“We really feel we are very committed to this notion of not stripping the show of its essential mystery. I mean, mystery exists in life and we kind of always go back to the midi-chlorians example [in the ‘Star Wars’ prequel films]. Your understanding of the Force was not aided by knowing that there were little particles swimming around in the bloodstreams of Jedi.
There are sort of fundamental elements of mystery and magic to the show that are unexplainable, and any attempt to explain them would actually harm the show, and in our opinion, the legacy of the show. So we’re trying to find the right blend of answering questions, but also leaving the things that should be mysterious mysterious.”
After the hype and (really) unfounded expectations put on the Apple iPad and how everyone seems to think that every product needs to be tailored exactly to their needs, it’s interesting to think how folks are going to react to the final season and the finale of LOST. I’m thinking it’ll be pretty divided, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.
Either way, I have always thought that Lindelof and Cuse have been some of the smartest, most level-headed folks you’d ever want to be the head of your favorite show. They so far seem to know what works and what doesn’t, so I don’t feel like there will be any disappointment from me whatsoever after the final minute airs. Other than the fact that there won’t be anymore LOST. That’ll still suck.
One of the possible dates for the upcoming State of the Union is Feb. 2 – the same date as the premiere of the final season of the ABC favorite, even though nothing is confirmed yet. According to the AP, ABC won’t say if it would move the premiere.
Come on, Mr. President. Knock out American Idol instead.
Last I heard it might only take over the long recap they put before the premiere, so all might be okay.
Update: No State of the Union on Feb. 2nd:
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs suggested that the big speech will not be delivered on the night in question.
“I don’t foresee a scenario in which millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in Lost are pre-empted by the president,” Gibbs said.

LOST’s final season premieres on Tuesday, February 2nd at 8pm/7c.
Following up with more Stephen King news. this one a bit more close to heart.
This only confirms what Abrams previously said to USA Today in an October interview. “You’ll be hard-pressed to find a huger fan of ‘The Dark Tower’ than me, but that’s probably the reason that I shouldn’t be the one to adapt it,” he revealed. “After working six years on ‘Lost,’ the last thing I want to do is spend the next seven years adapting one of my favorite books of all time. I’m such a massive Stephen King fan that I’m terrified of screwing it up. I’d do anything to see those movies written by someone else. My guess is they will get made because they’re so incredible. But not by me.”
Sad. But maybe it’s for the best. Even if Abrams is out, I still hope Damon Lindelof (one of, if not the key creators/writer of LOST) is still on board as I feel like he has a great touch to make this material translate as well as it could. I think they still have the rights to it, so here’s hoping it’s just something that’s put on hold for now.
Those who haven’t dived into LOST, now’s a great opportunity.
